3 Tips for A Destination Wedding
Knowing that destination weddings are trending among happy couples, we turned to our wedding expert Bindu at One World Destination Weddings for helpful advice in planning a destination event.
Tip #1: Advance Planning
Getting started early gets you the most options: the best rooms for you and your guests, the best travel prices, and the best vendors at your destination. You and your guests need passports and any relevant visas in order. The good news is that you don’t have to do it alone. Working with a good destination planner helps you work through all of these details.
Bindu recommends arranging a preliminary wedding tour to your venue of choice to clearly imagine the details of your event at the resort or destination.
Tip #2: Consider the Weather
Consider the best times of year for visiting a particular destination. For example, you may have heard of hurricane season in the Caribbean, but there are also places in the Caribbean that can be immune to hurricanes. Or are you considering Hawaii, where the weather is temperate year-round? Even so, you and your guests will want to think about travel insurance. A hurricane is not a great guest at a tropical wedding.
Tip #3: Read the Fine Print
If traveling abroad, take into account local marriage laws. Extra documentation or use of specific officiants may be necessary. Also, explore additional travel requirements that you and your guests may need.
And, finally, research health requirements for your area of travel. Ask your venue for additional guidance.
A good planner anticipates these potential issues along with a whole host of others that you may not be aware of. With so many details already to consider, reach out for expert help and make the most of your special day!
